Everyone comes in different shapes and sizes...

The cost of Event Training is determined by several factors including:

How fit you are before you start training - If you are of above average fitness then it will take you less time to safely train for an event. The amount of time you take to train for the event will affect how much it costs.

The type of event that you are training for - If you are training to take part in the "5k Race for life" then it will take fewer hours and therefore less money than to train for a marathon.

Any health or other issues that might slow down your training - Existing and old injuries or health concerns will have to be worked on or strengthened before and during the training.

Your target time or distance - If you want to run a marathon in less than 4 hours then it will require more training than if you simply 'just want to get round'. Similarly if you want to climb a small rock face, that will require less training than a multipitch technical climb in Scotland.

Event Training will accompany you every step of the way, so the chances of you succeeding in your event greatly increases. While Event Training will cost you more than working with a personal trainer once a week, if you really want to achieve your goal with the best possible advice, back up and support, while minimising the risk of injury, then Event Training is for you.

Because your contract is with Event Training you might have more than one trainer. For example, if you are running the London Marathon then you might have a running coach, who specialises in running. You might also have a sports therapist who specialises in postural analysis once or twice a week, to ensure that you are running as efficiently as possible. They can make sure that the muscles you use are strong enough.

Unfortunately we won't know how long it will take to train you until we have assessed you properly. At Event Training we would love to have a 'one size fits all' price structure but as you are aware we come in all shapes and sizes. One of our most popular programmes is marathon training. We have based the training schedule on an average 44 year old male of less than average fitness who has 'been to the gym a bit' (see case study). This might cost about £6250 (this can be paid in installments!). Of course we cannot know the true cost until a full assessment has been carried out.

Events such as half marathons would be about three fifths the price of the marathon. Working with a trainer to run a 5k race would be a fraction of the cost (say between £400 and £700). Cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats would probably also be considerably less because as you would only need to be fit enough to comfortably cycle 80 miles a day.

Remember, with the proper training and expertise you can do it!
